2nd Annual Purim Mask Invitational

On display now at the Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish Art

The Invitational is a competition open to school-age children, K-12, in Tulsa. The 2008 Invitational is currently open to students of the Tulsa Public School System, Heritage Academy, Temple Israel School, B’nai Emunah School, and Chabad House.The Invitational is set up by Divisions:

  • Kindergarten and First grades
  • Second and Third grades
  • Fourth and Fifth grades
  • Sixth and Seventh grades
  • Eighth and Ninth grades
  • Tenth, Eleventh and Twelfth grades

Prizes are awarded for the First Place in each division: 25.00 for First Place, and certificates for Second, Third, and Fourth Places. The winning masks will be exhibited during March and April at the Sherwin Miller Museum. Other masks may be included in the exhibition as allowed by space and the number of entries. All masks will be returned to their schools after the end of the Invitational. All masks must be wearable. No mask may be over 24 inches high, but there are no width restrictions. Stable material suitable for exhibition must be used-no organic material that decomposes, no construction paper (Color fades too quickly), no hazardous material (sharp metal edges or sharp protrusions). Papier-mache, fired clay, foam and other three-dimensional constructions are encouraged. All masks must be marked in permanent on the back-no taped on names. Entries are due by Friday, February 22, 2008, delivered to the Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish Art, 2021 East 71st St., Tulsa, Oklahoma.
